Proposed sweeping changes to teacher evaluation system

Michigan public school teachers could be evaluated on their job performance, under a new system, in two years. But the Michigan Education Association wants to make sure the program is fair for its members.

A sweeping new teacher evaluation system has been submitted to the state legislature for approval. For the past 18 months, a panel of educators has been working on a new way to measure effective teachers and identify those who need improvement.
